Guest Speakers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At MTU, there will be specialized talks in various fields of physics that will give young scientists an inside glimpse at cutting edge research! Topics will include Astrophysics, Material Physics, Quantum Optics, and more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panels and Round Table Discussions<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be panels where you can hear the perspective of multiple physicists on what life is like in their career, and what challenges they have faced. There will also be round table discussions, where you will be able to have a safe space for open discussions on your experiences and thoughts on growing as a physicist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lab Tours<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will get the chance to visit labs around campus and see what it is like working in a lab environment. Tour guides will also show you the main equipment that they use and how it works. Labs such as the Cloud chamber and the optics lab are just a couple of examples of what you will be able to see! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workshops<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are providing three workshops to grow students’ skill set. There will be a Nanotube fabrication, machine learning with python, and microscopy workshop. Whether you are interested in theoretical work behind a computer or experimental work in the lab, these workshops will give you an inside look on what a physicist’s role is in these areas. Space for these tutorials are limited, so please sign up in advance to guarantee your spot!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mineral Museum Tour<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just down the street from MTU is a Mineral Museum that has minerals from around the world, including copper mined right here in the Keweenaw!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poster Sessions<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you have research that you would like to share with your colleagues? If so, you’re in luck! There will be a poster sessions that will give you the opportunity to share the hard work that you have been doing, and to practice speaking about your research with professors and colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Career Exhibition<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are you interested in working in academia or industry?
