Travel by plane
We recommend flying into Houghton County Memorial Airport (CMX), also known as Hancock Airport, located 15 minutes driving distance from downtown Houghton. It is served twice a day by United Airlines flights (connections via Chicago O’Hare).
Limited rental cars are available at the airport (if booked in advance). there is no taxi stand or public transport at the airport, so please schedule your ride in advance. If there is sufficient interest, we will try and organize airport pickup/drop-off for meeting attendees.
Alternative airports include Marquette, Green Bay, and Iron Mountain.
Travel by car
See here for more details about traveling to Michigan Tech by car. Visitor permits for on-campus parking will be available for $5/day.
Houghton Hotels
We recommend to stay at one of the two hotels listed below. If there is sufficient interest we will organize shuttles to/from campus on the meeting days.

Breakfast included. About a 10 minute walk from MTU campus/meeting location and a 5-15 minute walk from most bars/restaurants.
There is no room block at the Super 8, but meeting attendees can get a 10% discount on the regular rates by mentioning that they are attending a conference at Michigan Tech during booking. Discount only available when booking over the phone.

Restaurant on-site; coffee shop across the street. About a 15-20 minute walk to campus/meeting location.
We have blocked 20 rooms at the Franklin Square Inn for a reduced rate of $94 per night for a single room ($99/night for a double room), plus tax. To take advantage of the reduced rate, mention that you are attending the “MTU FVH conferene”. Reduced rates available for phone bookings only.
